TAPSheet: Release Notes – 07/29/2014 (US Report)

Varese Sarabande will release Been Up On the Mount, featuring Big Joe Turner, scheduling the issue for September 16.

Varese Sarabande will reissue the 1972 debut album from Malo, which includes the hit – and timeless – “Sauvecito”, on September 16. The label will also have One On One, the 1977 soundtrack to the film of the same name by Seals and Crofts ready for the same September 16 date, as well as Fire Down Under (1981) from Riot, also reissued on September 16.

F-Bomb Records will release (appropriately, it seems) F*ck from Buckcherry on August 19.

Real Gone Music will reissue the 1977 Rick Wakeman album, Rick Wakeman’s Criminal Record, with a scheduled date of September 2.

ATO Records have Primus & The Chocolate Factory With The Fungi Ensemble from Primus, on the calendar for release on October 21.

Big Machine will have the new Tim McGraw album, Sundown Heaven Town ready on September 16.

Capitol Records will release a CD Box, 5 Classic Albums, for Megadeth, and will reissue separately each title on vinyl LP. The CD Box is slated for September 30, while the individual LP titles (Countdown To Extinction, Peace Sells…But Who’s Buying, Rust In Peace, So Far, So Good, So What, Youthanasia) go on sale beginning November 11.

One of the rare natural talents found on an “audition” show (America’s Got Talent), Jackie Evancho has dazzled (REALLY!) with her otherworldly voice. On September 23, she will release her new album, Awakening.

Rhino and Parlophone will update their catalog with a simple restock of Sound + Vision, the 4CD Box of songs from David Bowie, planned for September 23. Also planned is a 40th Anniversary 7″ picture vinyl disc of “Knock On Wood” Live by Bowie, also scheduled for September 23.

Saguaro Road will release a collected Jerry Lee Lewis: The Knox Phillips Sessions: The Unreleased Recordings, on both CD, and 180g vinyl LP, both slated for September 23.

Friday Music will release a 180g, 5LP Box of Live At The Cow Palace – New Year’s Eve – 1976 featuring the performances of The Grateful Dead. This Limited Edition 5LP Box is scheduled for September 16.

And while we’re here with The Grateful Dead, the specialty label, Grateful Dead Production, will release a 3CD set of Wake Up To Find Out: Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale NY 03/29/1990, on September 9.

Anti-Records have Whorl coming from Simian Mobile Disco on both CD and LP, scheduled for September 9. The LP will also contain a CD of the full album.

For the collector, Sacred Bones Records will reissue the Eraserhead soundtrack by David Lynch and Alan R Splet.


DeltaTone will release Into The Wide from Delta Spirit on September 9.

Columbia will release Bulletproof Picasso from Train, scheduled for September 16.

Blue Chair Records, and Columbia Nashville will release The Big Revival by Kenny Chesney, scheduling the set for September 23.

TAPSheet: Release Notes – 08/08/2013 (US Report)

Once there was a single Blue Öyster Cult – Original Album Classics series set on the calendar, but now there are two.  On August 27, there will be Original Album Classics , and Original Album Classics 2.  The first set, as previously reported, will contain CD copies of On Your Feet Or On Your Knees, Some Enchanted Evening, Cultosaurus Erectus, Fire Of Unknown Origin, and The Revolution Of Night.  The second set will contain Blue Öyster Cult, Tyranny And Mutation, Secret Treaties, Agents Of Fortune, and Mirrors.

As previously reported, the new Kings Of Leon album, Mechanical Bull, is scheduled for release in CD, LP, and a Deluxe Edition, on September 30.

Deutsche Grammophon have penciled in the reissue of Songs From The Labyrinth (2006) by Sting for October 22.

Candlelight Records have two vinyl LP reissues coming of Gary Numan titles.  They are Exile (1997), and Pure (2000).  These are planned for November 12.

Candlelight Records also have Second Coming (2013) by Stryper planned for LP release also on November 12.

Sony Masterworks have The Toast of Hollywood featuring Mario Lanza on the schedules for August 27.  This 2CD set is prepared in conjunction with Turner Movie Classics and will collect Lanza film songs (on the first CD), and songs heard on The Mario Lanza Show (for the second CD).


UMe have two Bing Crosby titles coming on September 24.  Those titles include Bing Sings The Johnny Mercer Songbook, and Le Bing: Song Hits of Paris.

Victory Records have Somewhere In The Between (2007) coming on vinyl LP from Streetlight Manifesto on September 13.

Workhorse Music Group will release Vertikal II by Cult of Luna on September 17.

Verve Records have Christmas on the horizon with the expected arrival of A Mary Christmas by Mary J Blige, which is expected on October 15.


Black Label Society will release Unblackened on September 24.

MRI Records have Lunch. Drunk. Love. from Bowling For Soup arriving on September 10.

A&M Records have the shelved Patty Griffith album, Silver Bell, planned for release on October 8.


Frontier Records have Live At Moondance Jam featuring REO Speedwagon planned for November 19.

139th Broadway will release A New Nightmare from Twiztid on September 3.

Atlantic Records have Too Weird To Live, Too Rare To Die from Panic! At The Disco, planned for October 8.

MPI Home video will release  The Best of Hullabaloo: Collection One, The Best of Hullabaloo: Collection Two, The  Best of Hullabaloo: Collection Three, and The Best of Hullabaloo: Collection Four on DVD, all scheduling for September 10.


Analogue Productions have an SACD version of the Steppenwolf (1968) debut (with “Sookie Sookie”, “The Pusher”, and “Born To Be Wild”) arriving on September 10.  This SACD was remastered by Kevin Gray.

Believe it or not, I’m excited for the upcoming release of Take Me To The Land of Hell, the new album from Yoko Ono – Plastic Ono Band, which is pegged for release via Chimera Music on both CD and LP, both on September 17. I even love the intriguing cover art.


An anthology of Roky Erickson music, post-Don’t Slander Me, will be reissued.  Gremlins Have Pictures, via Light In The Attic Records, will be joined by Don’t Slander Me, and Evil One on September 17.  CD, and LP.

Appleseed Records have the new David Bromberg Band album, Only Slightly Mad, on the calendar for September 24.

Razor & Tie, a label currently engaged in a Deluxe Edition reissue campaign for a number of revisited albums, will be releasing a Deluxe Edition of Who’s Zoomin’ Who?, the successful 1985 ‘gettin’ with the new sounds’ Aretha Frankin album that spawned two hits in “Freeway of Love”, as well as the title track, “Who’s Zoomin’ Who?”  Who’s Zoomin’ Who? is being scheduled for a September 24 reissue date.


Real Gone Music has announced the next Dick’s Picks Grateful Dead issue with Dick’s Picks Volume 21 – Richmond, VA 11/1/85 on the calendar for September 30.

Real Gone Music will give The Lords Of The New Church plenty to get excited about with reissues coming for The Lords Of The New Church (1982), and The Method To Our Madness (1984).  Both albums are slated for September 30.

Arc Music will release Nadur from Clannad on September 24.

There’s new music coming from The Mission in the way of new album, The Brightest Light. This album will be available as a CD, Deluxe Edition 2CD with demos and bonus tracks, and vinyl LP, all on September 17 via The End Records. Enjoy a listen to “Drag”, a new song from the album courtesy of The End Records.


Even more Real Gone include 16 Year Old Soul featuring Billy Preston, From Nashville to LA – Lost Columbia Masters 1962-1969, and The Complete Columbia Singles 1962-1970, both featuring Patti Page, and The Complete Recordings featuring The Paley Brothers.  All titles are scheduled for September 30.

Safe As Milk, the 1967 classic from Captain Beefheart, is slated for a vinyl LP resurrection on September 24.

Ode Sounds and Visuals will reissue the soundtrack of The Rocky Horror Picture Show on vinyl LP, scheduled for September 24.


Warner Brothers have Talking Dreams coming from Echosmith on October 1.

Partisan Records (home to Heartless Bastards) will be releasing the new Deer Tick album, Negativity, on September 24.

Metal Blade Records will release Battle Maximus from GWAR on September 17.

And finally, Cleopatra Records have a 2CD Live Anthology coming for ’70s supergroup, Captain Beyond, on September 10.  The album is completely named Live Anthology – Official Bootleg.  This album is hand numbered and limited to just 1000 copies.  So, if you were/are a Captain Beyond fan (and if you’re not, I would suggest getting listens to Captain Beyond (1972), and Sufficiently Breathless (1973) before ignoring this), then now would be the time to pre-order this live set.
