8-Disc Procol Harum Box Arriving In 2018

With 2017 wrapping up, it’s nice to see that a large label is planning a big release for Procol Harum fans with the release of a Limited Edition 8 Disc Anthology Box . The box will contain five CDs  with 69 tracks, and three DVDs filled with key PH tracks, and two live sets, one from their 1973 Hollywood Bowl show, and a previously unreleased live set from Bournemouth Winter Gardens from 1976.

The three DVDs contain well over three and a half hours of Procol Harum goodies with collections from BBC, Top of the Pops, and other appearances.

The music found on the sets are newly remastered, which is alone a classic reason to get the set. But the box will be blessed with a 68-page book with essays, photos, memorabilia, and a poster from a 1976 concert.

The Box is being called Still There’ll Be More 1967-2017. It is scheduled for release from Cherry Red/Esoteric Records on March 23, 2018.

New Robin Trower Album, Time And Emotion, Set For May

Robin Trower is a guitarist extraordinaire who has roots in Rock by his affiliation with the influential Procol Harum, and his own magnificent solo career, which has exceeded his time with Procol Harum. To date, Robin Trower has provided fans with a consistent and fairly timely flow of new music. His last, Where You Are Going To was released in 2016. It is a bluesy work that keeps us rockin’ to the music that is definitively Robin Trower. Good for us!

On May 5, his long-time record label, V-12, will release the next up Robin Trower set, Time And Emotion. The new album will feature twelve new Trower songs, songs that will no doubt keep us well entrenched Trower fans.

“…no one asks where you came from, and where it is you’re going to.”

New Procol Harum Album, Novum, Set For April

When you think the name Procol Harem, there’s, no doubt, a rush of goodness that goes through your mind. Emerging in 1967, during the formative years of Rock and Roll, back when the genre lines were still being drawn out, Procol Harum delivered their first album. Their first album, self-titled Procol Harum, contained the later hit, “Conquistador”. Prior to that, the band issued a defining single, “A Whiter Shade Of Pale”, which gave them the platform from which they thrived.

2017 is he 50th Anniversary of Procol Harum. Of course, the lineup changes have been great, but the band, led by co-founder, Gary Brooker, is still heavily involved. Assisted by band mates that have been together longer than the original incarnations, this lineup has produced excellent work that subscribes to the musical intent of Procol Harum.

On April 21, Procol Harum will release a brand new eleven-track studio effort. Called Novum, it will help to celebrate the 50th Anniversary by giving fans a solid work. Novum will be preceded by a representative single, “Sunday Morning” although not until April 7. Novum will be released by Eagle Records. It will be the band’s first in 14 years. Novum will be released on CD, in DD, and on vinyl LP.

New Robin Trower Album, Where You Are Going To, Planned For March

Robin Trower Where Are You Going ToRobin Trower has left quite a legacy behind with his stints as guitarist. One of those are his years with Procol Harum. The other is his extraordinary solo years. Trower hit almost immediate paydirt with his solo sets that started with Twice Removed From Yesterday (1973). It was his phenomenal Bridge of Sighs that turned the page for him and his two bandmates (James Dewar – Bass/Vocalist, Reg Isidore – Drums). That album put him on the fast circuit, a must to see.

Over the years, Robin Trower has released a string of albums up to 2015’s Something’s About To Change. Including that, Trower’s solo output stands at 20, not including his incredible 1976 Live album.

On March 25, Robin Trower will release his 21st solo effort, Where You Are Going To. This new album will contain ten new tracks (see track list below). The new album currently has no plans (that I’m aware of) of vinyl LP, but nevertheless, new Trower is always welcomed.

Esoteric Records To Reissue Procol Harum Debut In June

Procol Harum Procol HarumSometimes, in all of our running around, we simply overlook the obvious things that literally stare us in our faces. For me, it was my recent post of the Esoteric reissue of Shine On Brightly. In that post, I forget (even though I knew) that the first Procol Harum album was also planned for reissue as a remastered and expanded set. So here I am to rectify that mistake.

On June 29, the UK market (Esoteric Records) will reissue the 1968 classic debut of Procol Harem with a remastered edition that will include four bonus tracks (“A Whiter Shade Of Pale”, “Lime Street Blues”, “Homburg”, “Good Captain Clack (Single Edit)”). In addition, this new Edition will offer restored artwork, and a new set of line notes and an essay.

I have made amends!
