TAPSheet: Release Notes – 02/11/2015 (US Report)

Columbia Records, with Legacy Recordings, will release several Essential series titles that will include sets for Coheed And Cambria (26 tracks), Rob Halford (30 tracks), and Judas Priest (34 tracks). All three 2CD sets are planned for March 31.

Curb Records will release the new Hank Williams III album, Take As Needed For Pain, on April 14. This set will be issued on CD, and Gold-colored vinyl LP.

RCA Records will release four 5 Original Album Classic series titles for John Denver, Paul Simon, Kansas, and for Janis Joplin, with 5 CDs containing 65 songs for the John Denver set, 72 songs for the Paul Simon set, 49 tunes for the Kansas collection, and 49 tracks for the Janis Joplin set. They’re all scheduled for March 24.

Merge Records will release The Champ by The Mountain Goats planned for April 7 on CD, DD, and vinyl LP.

Warner Brothers will release Second Hand Heart by Dwight Yoakam on April 14.

XL Records have Von from Sigur Ros planned for release on March 31.

Epic Records will release Strangers To Ourselves, the new album by Modest Mouse, on March 17. the new album will be available on CD, DD, and vinyl LP.

 

Real Gone Music has slated two new Dick’s Picks titles from the live vaults featuring The Grateful Dead. These two titles are Dick’s Picks Volume 9: Madison Square Garden, New York, NY  9/16/90, and Dick’s Picks Volume 11: Stanley Theatre, Jersey City, NJ 9/27/72. these two volumes are planned for March 31.

Legacy Recordings have The Centennial Collection featuring Billie Holiday on the calendar for March 31. It will offer 20 tracks from the Holiday catalog, with some tracks from her 78RPM singles.

Provogue/Mascot Records have Into The Sun by Robben Ford arriving on March 31, CD and LP.

Legacy Recordings plan a new album by Steve Vai for April 7. The album is called Stillness In Motion.

Fans of The Sound Of Music will be pleased to note that Legacy Recordings have a 50th Anniversary Legacy Edition planned for March 10. The Legacy CD will contain the original soundtrack score and expand on that with additional pieces.

Rhino Records will release several Pogues titles on vinyl LP, 180g style! The titles are Red Roses For Me, Poguetry In Motion, Peace And Love, and Hell’s Ditch. These sets are expected on March 17.

Ringo Starr will release his next studio effort, Postcards From Paradise, on March 31. the new album will be presented on CD, DD, and vinyl LP.

TAPSheet: Release Notes – 01/13/2015 (US Report)

Real Gone Music will re-release a vinyl LP edition of an old-time Foghat favorite, Foghat Live. They will also re-release an old J. Geils Band favorite, Bloodshot. The Foghat Live album will be presented with its original die-cut cover. The Bloodshot album is planned to be pressed in red vinyl, just as the original first pressing was. Both releases will be presented in 180g-weight vinyl. Both albums are remastered for better sound. These Limited Edition reissues are set for March 3.

Dope Machines from The Airborne Toxic Event is slated for release on February 24.

MVD Visual will release a Johnny Winter live set, Live From Japan, scheduled for March 10. It will be issued on CD, and vinyl LP.

New Modest Mouse album, Strangers To Ourselves, will become available on March 3. This new album is the first new Modest Mouse set from them in approximately 8 years. “Lampshades On Fire” will precede the album as its first single. The new album will release on CD, DD, and 180g 2LP.

Spookshow International Live will be released by Rob Zombie, planned for February 12. It’s planned for CD, Deluxe CD, DD, and LP.

A new Luke Bryan album (title unknown) is expected to be released on March 10 via Capital Nashville.

Outer Battery Records will release a Limited Edition LP of Bug Live (Live at the 9:30 Club – Washington DC – June 2012) , by Dinosaur Jr.

+180 Records will release Guitars And Microphones by Kate Pierson, with a planned release date of February 17.

UDR has Immortal Randy Rhoads – The Ultimate Tribute scheduled for March 3. The set will be available as a FanBox with 2LP (clear vinyl), and a t-shirt. Additional packages include CD, and a Deluxe Edition. This set features eleven songs co-written by Rnady Rhoads, and recorded by artists like Dweezil Zappa, Serj Tankian, Kelle Rhoads (his brother), and others.

Rhino Records, in conjunction with Parlophone will release a 16-track collection of songs from Dr Feelgood from their years with Wilko Johnson before he left to do other things that included a stint with Ian Dury and The Blockheads. Wilko was a member of Dr Feelgood for the band’s first 4 albums. The collection is being called I’m A Man (Best Of The Wilko Johnson Years 1974-1977). It is expected on February 24. Dr. Feelgood was an amazing blues-based band, especially with Wilko Johnson.

What Happens Next is the new album by Gang Of Four, planned for February 24 via Metropolis Records.

I’m excited about a new Hilary Hahn release expected on March 31 via Deutsche Grammophon. Hilary Hahn is a violinist whose new album of violin concertos celebrate Mozart 5, Vieuxtemps 4. She is being supported by the Duetsche Kammerphilharmonic Bremen, conduced by Paavo Järvi.

Allegro will release Al Di Meola’s Latest by Al Di Meola, planned for May 12 on CD, Deluxe Edition CD, DD, and LP.

Frontiers Records will release new Toto music with the upcoming Toto XIV, which is currently scheduled for March 24.

Loud and Proud Records will release a CD/DVD featuring Rick Springfield doing stripped down version of his previous songs that include “Jesse’s Girl”, “I’ve Done Everything For You”, and others. Surprisingly, there isn’t a “Speak To the Sky” in sight. The new album is called Stripped Down, and is planned for February 24.

For the fans, My Chemical Romance will release a 2LP collectible set of The Black Parade with etching on the 4th side (D-side). This edition of The black Parade is slated for release on February 10.

Metal Blade Records will release the 3CD set by Neal Morse, Grand Experiment, on February 10.

And finally, from one of our classic guitarists, Jorma Kaukonen, Red House Records will release the new album, Ain’t In No Hurry. For those of you who may not know (yeah, right!), Jorma played guitars for Jefferson Airplane, and Hot Tuna. Ain’t in No Hurry is scheduled for February 17.

TAPSheet: Release Notes – 09/30/2014 (US Report)

On December 9, Inside Recordings will release a 2LP version of the new Jackson Browne album, Standing In the Breach. The set will be pressed on 180g-weight vinyl. The CD version is slated for October 7.

The Lonesome Crowded West reissue by Modest Mouse arrives on November 11 on CD, DD, and vinyl LP (slated a week earlier on November 4).

Epitaph Records will release a remastered 20th Anniversary Edition LP set for NOFX of their 1994 album, Punk In Drublic, on November 24.  Epitaph will also release a 20th Anniversary Edition LP of Let’s Go, the 1994 album by Rancid. Both LPs are remastered, and pressed on 180g-weight vinyl. Both LPs will contain the CD of the newly remastered album.

Annie Lennox‘s new one, Nostalgia, is slated for release on October 21.

Warner Brothers have new Bette Midler music coming (15 tracks) on November 4 with It’s the Girls.

Arista and Legacy Recordings will team to release a collected set featuring Carly Simon on their Playlist series. Playlist: The Very Best Of Carly Simon is slated for October 27.  Any Carly Simon fan could have produced a better set, if you ask me (look at that awful track-list).

Fantasy Records will release a CD/DVD Deluxe Edition of Thompson, an album by Family, scheduled for November 18.

Welk Music Group will release new Marianne Faithfull music with Give My Love To London. That new album will release on CD, scheduled for November 11, and on vinyl LP, scheduled later for December 9.

Varese Sarabande will release Infinity, by Shawn Phillips, on November 11. If you followed his career from way back in the ’70s, you may just be in for a treat.

November 17 is the date of the new Bryan Ferry album, Avonmore.

Eagle Rock Entertainment have Aquostic (Stripped Bare) from Status Quo, planned for November 11. The label also intends another From The Vault series featuring live Rolling Stones, in From the Vault – LA Forum (Live In 1975), scheduled for CD, and LP, both on November 18. This Stones title will also release on DVD, same date.

ATO Records will deliver English Oceans from Drive-By Truckers, on November 18.

Decca Records plan three BD-Audio (Blu-ray Audio) titles from Luciano Pavarotti on December 9. The high resolution sets include Donizetti: L’Elisir d’amore (1969), Puccini: Madama Butterfly (1974), and Puccini: Turandot (1972).

Atlantic Records will release CD for Greatest Hits So Far…featuring the Zac Brown Band. This set is planned for November 11.

Righteous Babe Records will release new Ani DiFranco on November 4 (CD, DD), and on November 11 (LP). The new album is called Allergic To Water.

The new anthology for Queen, Forever, is slated for November 11, in a 20-track CD set, and a 36-track 2CD Deluxe Edition.

Secretly Canadian Records will release 2CD, DD, and 2LP for the Deluxe Edition reissue of Didn’t It Rain (1997), by Songs: Ohia (Jason Molina) on December 2. The Deluxe Edition will feature eight previously unheard demo tracks, as well as new Jason Molina artwork for the new package.

Warner Brothers Records will release new Damien Rice with My Favourite Faded Fantasy, scheduled for CD, and vinyl LP, on November 11.

Rhino Records will release a 6DVD collection of video featuring R.E.M. featuring all things video from the R.E.M. camp. The set, called REMTV, is slated for release on November 24.

Alucard Records will release Live At The Bicentennial featuring Gentle Giant, on November 18.

Fantasy Records will release The Complete Studio Albums from Creedence Clearwater Revival, all collected in an LP Box set, on November 11.

Finally, Raven Records will produced a 2CD collection of Foghat classics called Drivin’ Wheels (Best Of 1972-1982). This will drop on November 18. The only bad thing about this collection is that it unfairly overlooks Tight Shoes(1980), and Girls To Chat & Boys To Bounce (1981) with nary a modest representation. Nevertheless, a grand ‘best of’ and an excellent choice to be in your collection, especially if the tracks have been remastered, and remastered well.
