The $5.98 EP Garage Days Revisited by Metallica Remastered and Re-Revisited

Metallica has an ongoing campaign to refresh their potent catalog with new remasters and expanded reissues. Their previous such work was Master of Puppets (1986), released back in November of 2017.

On April 13, Metallica will add The $5.98 EP: Garage Days Revisited to the expanding list. It will be called The $5.98 EP: Garage Days Re-Revisited. The reissue will provide the original track-list with no adds, just a remaster of a long out of print classic in surprising ways.

This EP will be reissued on CD, as well as a CD edition in a lenticular longbox (remember those?), three vinyl editions (180g-weight standard black, a limited edition red-orange 180g-weight vinyl, and an exclusive picture disc LP, with the latter two offered only via metallica.com), a cassette version with the EP content on both sides, just like the original issue, and DD.

Metallica’s Master Of Puppets To Get Massive Attention

With the news that Metallica is remastering Masters of Puppets, their 1986 classic, and are packaging the set in several kinds of sets has made the community of fans delighted. Even more, the Super Deluxe Box will be massive in every sense of the word. Best of all, for the gradient level of fans, the album will be a targeted to all with matching price points.

On November 10, Rhino Records in conjunction with Blackened Records, will reissue Master Of Puppets to thoroughly provide the most definitive of the album.

Watch for the standard release of CD, DD, and vinyl LP. To expand for the growing fan, there will be a 3CD edition that provides the original album remastered, a CD with a collection of eleven demos, riffs from personal tapes, a few rough mixes of tracks, and an interview, and a 3rd CD with selected live performance tracks from various stops along the Damage, Inc tour. But for the SERIOUS fan, there’s this:

The Remastered Deluxe Box of Master of Puppets will provide all of the following:

  • 10 CDs
  • 3 LPs
  • 2 DVDs
  • 1 Cassette
  • 108 page hardbound book
  • A set of 6 collectible buttons
  • Lithograph
  • Replica folder of handwritten lyrics

The ten CDs offer the original album remastered, two CDs of interviews, three richly explored CDs of rough mixes, riff tracks, demos, outtakes, four CDs of live performance shows.

The three LPs will provide the remastered Master of Puppets, with the LPs 2 and 3 providing the complete Aragon Ballroom (Chicago) show from May 5, 1986.

The cassette will provide a live show from Stockholm, Sweden (9/26/1986).

The 2 DVDs will provide video for lives shows, MTV interviews, and other interests.

It may hold the prize for the most adorned definitive box for an album ever.

New Metallica Album, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct, On Calendar For November

Metallica - Hardwired...To Self DestructThe LA Thrash Metal band, Metallica, has forged a solid reputation for being a producer of enduring songs. With a wide following, the band has been able to experiment outside their natural zone (Lulu, a 2011 collaboration with Lou Reed). That’s a feat that not many can pull off. Still, with such classic albums as Kill ‘Em All (1983), Ride The Lightning (1984), Master of Puppets (1986), …And Justice for All (1988), the immensely popular Metallica (or The Black Album) (1991), and the other successful follow-ups, Metallica has ruled the charts with a strong upper hand. Not to mention the acquisitions of nine Grammys, and a shelf full of other notable awards, Metallica has enjoyed a great career as a band.

After some eight years since the release of their last studio album, Death Magnetic (2008), the band has regrouped to record their next studio set, Hardwired…To Self-Destruct. This new album will come with twelve tracks. The first off the album that is currently available to listen to (see below) is “Hardwired”. If you pre-order the album, this track is instantly available as a digital download.

Hardwired…To Self-Destruct is scheduled for release on November 18. A Deluxe Edition of the album will add in more music than the official release of the album. I’m certain a vinyl LP edition of the album will be issued as well.

Live Sh*t: Binge & Purge From Metallica Will Reissue In September

LiveShitMetallicaWhen Metallica made their force as a Rock and Roll band known, they climbed their way to the top of the metal heap and stayed there for quite a long time. In fact, many of their classic albums, beginning with their revered debut from 1983. Kill ‘Em All, all the way through to their last, Death Magnetic (2008), still hold a place in may fans’ hearts. It’s no secret that many of these titles, some more than others, are reissue gold.

In 1993, the band released a live set that ended up being their most important set release. With sales up stratospherically at around 25 million units sold worldwide, it’s easily understood that fans love Live Sh*t: Binge & Purge. Live Sh*t: Binge & Purge was released as a Boxed set that contained three CDs, and three VHS tapes of Metallica performances, with subsequent issues subbing in DVDs, thus replacing the outdated VHS tapes.

On September 16, Rhino, and Blackened Recordings will reissue Live Sh*t: Binge & Purge as the expected 3CD/2DVD box. As of this time, there is no information on what the new reissue will bring over the last 2002 reissue of the title. For the moment, this is the first salvo of notice that we’re providing. We will update as more info becomes available (if necessary).

However, let it be known that there are LP, and DVD reissues of all Metallica titles. This just may be a straight replacement of the title. Take this news how you will.
