Rita Coolidge To Release New Album, Safe In The Arms Of Time

The ’70s were indeed a rich and musically diverse period as Rock grew a few more inches. With an array of emerging styles, Rock was blessed with music to give us fans. And we were equally blessed to be able to hear what was created. One of the great female singers from that time was Rita Coolidge, who sang back up on some great songs like “After Midnight” (Eric Clapton), and “Love The One You’re With” (Stephen Stills). As a one-time wife to Kris Kristofferson, she provided timeless duets like “Crippled Crow” (Breakaway – 1974).

She enjoyed a hit-making status with several classic vocal covers of “(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher”, “We’re All Alone”, and “The Way You Do The Things You Do”, all of the same classic album, Anytime…Anywhere (1977). That album sold well over a million copies in the US alone. Not counting her 2012 Christmas album (A Rita Coolidge Christmas), her last studio effort was 2005’s And So Is Love.

On May 4, Rita Coolidge (via Blue √Član Records) will release a brand new album. Called Safe In The Arms Of Time, Rita Coolidge will provide fans with twelve original songs, with one co-written and performed with Keb Mo (“Walking On Water”).

Safe In The Arms Of Time (which I’d say was true for Rita looking at her cover shot), will be available on CD, DD, and vinyl LP. A song from the album is available (hear below).
