Well, here we are in August. And as much as I shouldn’t say it, Christmas is in arrival status. Therefore, my inbox begins to fill with Christmas related projects. Normally, I ignore them until around the middle to end of September. But since I’m a lifetime Herb Alpert fan, I’ll give this one a post.
On September 29, Herb Alpert will release his first Christmas album in 50 years. His previous one, Christmas Album, was issued in 1968. his new one is going to be called The Christmas Wish, and will be presented with Symphony and Choir. this new holiday set, with fifteen classic selections, was recorded in Hollywood at the Capitol Records Building. With not only Herb Alpert’s legendary trumpet in he recordings, there will be a ten-piece rhythm section, a 45-piece orchestra, and a 32-member choir to complement it all.

Certainly, Herb Alpert is a vital part of our Rock and Roll history. With his many jazz-infused classics that include the wild and beautiful Whipped Cream and Other Delights (1965) album that contained the classic Tijuana Brass tune, “A Taste Of Honey”, and The Beat Of The Brass (1968) that issued the wonderful “This Guy’s In Love With You”, we have been lucky to enjoy his many hits and albums releases.
On September 30, we will get another chance to enjoy the trumpet of Herb Alpert with the release of his next album, Human Nature. This new album will contain nine tracks, some original and some covers. One such cover found on the album will be Michael Jackson’s “Human Nature”. The first single from the album, “Doodles”, will be released on August 15.

Herb Alpert Presents will reissue Christmas Album (1968) by Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass. It will feature a new remaster. It is scheduled for release on October 23.

Autumn Tone Records will release the new album from the Chicago 3-member band,Yoko and the Oh No’s, planning the CD and LP releases for October 30. This band is interesting in that they are one of a few that mimic the late ’70s NYC indie styles of glam and abandon. And the lead singer is just graduated from HS. Looks like an early career start if they can maintain the interest. Check out the new album’s bluesy single video of “She Ain’t Mine” (below), and live footage of “James Baxter” from a Beat Kitchen club show (Chicago on Belmont). I’m impressed! And I like ’em!
