George Thorogood emerged back in 1977 with the Rounder debut release of George Thorogood And The Destroyers. That album soon hit Gold status, setting the stage for the follow-up, Move It On Over. Released in 1978, it produced the big hit single of the electrified cover of Hank Williams’s “Move It On Over”, and a thick, crunchy version of “Who Do You Love?”, a raucous cover of the Bo Diddley classic. From there, it was a speeding locomotive ride through fourteen more albums including Bad To The Bone (1982).

George Thorogood has never disappointed in his interpretation of classic songs from the past. But he could crank out a few originals, too!

On August 4, George Thorogood releases his first solo studio set with Party Of One. This album puts him back with Rounder Records, where he got his start way back in the ’70s. Party of One will contain fourteen songs. those songs will be, as is his usual, rocking blues covers. What separates them is the stripped down nature of his recordings with acoustic instrumentation.

Party Of One is planned for CD, DD, and vinyl LP. The CD edition will add in a bonus track of Robert Johnson’s “Dynaflow Blues”.

A listen to a short preview (here) will reveal a familiar George Thorogood with a Springsteen-esqe delivery.
