While I’m not too much a late-era Fleetwood Mac fan, I respect what they have done. I even love a few songs (“Sara”BIG TIME, “Gypsy”, “Warm Ways”, “Little Lies”). My love lies in the Peter Green to Danny Kirwan/Bob Welsh years. But that’s me. I love that fans love Fleetwood Mac in any of their incarnations. And that’s good enough for me.
After the mega successes of their new-era band with Buckingham/Nicks “debut”, Rumours, and Tusk, the band released Mirage. It was issued in 1982. It was followed by another well-received classic, Tango In The Night much later (1987). For many, these albums are the quintessential Fleetwood Mac albums.
On July 29, WB and Rhino will revisit Mirage with a massive 3CD/1DVD-Audio/1LP Super Deluxe Edition package that features brand new remastering and a 5.1 remix. One of the CDs will contain a collection of bonus tracks that include demos, outtakes, alternate versions, and two unreleased tracks (“Blue Monday”, the extended “Gypsy” mix). The third CD will offer a selection of live performance tracks culled from their 1982 tour.
The DVD-Audio will provide the entire album in 5.1 Surround as well as 196 kHz/24-bit Stereo remixes of the entire album providing a high quality experience. The LP features the album’s twelve tracks remastered.
I’m betting that included booklet will be a stunning affair as well.
For those that simply refuse the whole pricey affair, there will be a 2CD Deluxe Edition with the collection of bonus tracks. And then, for those that just want the album remastered, there is a single CD edition. I expect that, in the future, the LP will be broken out and sold separately (fingers crossed).
