BestOfTheGratefulDeadGrateful Dead is perhaps one of the most revered and followed bands in the history of Rock and Roll. They have all kinds of live albums released, most from the Dick’s Picks archives. Even with the death of Jerry Garcia, Grateful Dead still has a mystique that is largely unmatched. Over the course of their prolific recording period, where they delivered excellent original music in well over 15 studio albums.

Their live sets were as classic as their studio sets. Europe ’72 was a fixture on my turntable back in the year of its release, 1972. I played it often. When it comes to The Dead, I’m a fan. i may not be as fanatical a fan as some. But I love them.

On March 31, Grateful Dead Productions, distributed via Warner Brothers, will release a 2CD ‘best of’ collection called The Best Of The Grateful Dead. It will also be available digitally as MP3, FLAC, and Apple Lossless. Let’s hope for vinyl LPs!

The 32-tracks contained on this set are newly remastered from the original analog tapes by David Glasser. The set includes a rare 2 and a half minute single version of “Dark Star”, along with a 16-minute “Terrapin Station”.

  1. Why NO vinyl version? Vinyl selling well -CDs NOT selling well-What do they give us ? More CDs??? What am I missing here?????

    1. I don’t have any numbers but from what I have read the actual number of cd sales outpaces those of vinyl by far.
You are correct that the sale of vinyl is going up while the sale of cds is going down but that has nothing to do will total sales of each.
