There are a load of “Five Classic Albums” series titles coming from everywhere.  What started off as a way to collect a core grouping of albums from a certain band, has obviously done well for itself, so it’s becoming an expected and normal practice.  In any case, whether you like these kinds of no-frills releases or not, here’s a current listing of upcoming ones:

All sets that have a ? after them are planned for November 5.  The listed titles are expected for October 29.

Fantasy Records have the box set, Creedence Clearwater Revival set for re-release.  This set features then newly remastered versions of their classic Fantasy albums (Creedence Clearwater Revival, Bayou Country, Willy And The Poor Boys, Cosmo’s Factory, Pendulum, Mardi Gras, The Concert, and Live In Europe.  In addition, the box contained an extra CD with pre-CCR recordings with 21 tracks, nine of them previously unreleased.  The wooden box set has  a richly designed booklet with photos, credits, essays, and other excellent things.  This box is set for re-release on November 12.

Sargent House will release the new album from Russian Circles called Memorial, slated for release on CD on October 29.

Analogue Productions have Amused To Death, the solo album from Roger Waters planned for release on November 5 as a Stereo Hybrid SACD.

The extra good news today is the upcoming release of Weekend, the new album from The Sounds.  It is being scheduled for CD and LP on October 29 via Arnioki Records.

Shout! Factory have more Emerson, Lake & Palmer coming on CD with Live In Montreal 1977, scheduled for November 11.

Also from Shout! Factory, there will be Volume 3 of Under The Covers by Matthew Sweet And Susanna Hoffs, planned for November 11.

Flower Kings offer Desolation Rose up to fans on October 29, on CD.

Legacy Recordings will fill October 22 up with CD reissues and adds of Are You Experienced, Axis: Bold As Love, Electric Ladyland, Miami Pop Festival, and Playlist: The Best of Jimi Hendrix.

JEMP Records will release an all new 3CD Live set from Phish that is complete in its entirety of the set.  So complete, Niagara Falls will contain all of the sound-checks for the show at Niagara Falls International Convention Center on December 7, 1995.  This set releases on November 12.

New Voodoo Records will release a new 7″ vinyl single from Johnny Marr of “New Town Velocity” backed with “The It-Switch“, on November 5.  “The It-Switch” is a brand new song recorded specifically for this release.

Motown Records have The Complete Motown Singles, Volume 12B – 1972 coming on CD scheduled for November 12.

Epic Records have The Essential Pearl Jam (RearViewMirror 1991-2003) coming on CD, October 22.

Republic Records have Burials coming from A.F.I. on October 22 in both CD and LP formats.

There is a helluva lot of vinyl coming over the next few months.  Here, I’ll list the releases and let you marvel (or grumble) over the wealth:

On October 29, Elektra Records will collect all of the studio issues from Eagles in one box called Eagles: The Studio Albums 1972-1979.  If you were looking to upgrade your Eagles LPs, this might be the place to start.

On November 19, Verve Records will reissue Conversations With Myself (Bill Evans), Lady Sings The Blues (Billie Holiday), Giblet Gravy (George Benson), Ella And Louis (Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong), The Cat (Jimmy Smith), Night Train (Oscar Peterson), Big Band Bossa Nova (Quincy Jones), Big Band Bossa Nova (Stan Getz), Charlie Parker With Strings (Charlie Parker), and April In Paris (Count Basie). on vinyl LP.

Fantasy Records have two CCR (Creedence Clearwater Revival) classics, Cosmo’s Factory, and Bayou Country, both coming on vinyl LP scheduled for November 5.

American Records will reissue Amorica by The Black Crowes on vinyl LP on November 5.

Legacy Recordings have all the Clash albums coming on vinyl LP formats on October 15.  Those include Combat Rock, Give ‘Em Enough Rope, London Calling, Sandanista!, and The Clash.

Legacy Recordings will also release Miami Pop Festival featuring The Jimi Hendrix Experience on vinyl LP (and CD), on November 5.

  2. Are you guys sure about the re-issues of the core catalog titles for Hendrix? Sony just re-issued these in 2010, so I’d be surprised if AYE?, Axis and ELL were coming out again.

    1. IF the titles have sold out, it may just be a replenishing. I just know that these titles are on the list for that date, although, their appearance does not indicate anything special.
